Packaging is something that most businesses need to make sure that their products get to their customers in top condition. There is not always an environmentally friendly product for all packaging applications, however by using products that are recyclable, compostable or degradable whenever possible we can help make a difference!

Primepac’s new eco-friendly range

Primepac has recently introduced a new range of environmentally friendly products that are made from either recycled plastic, degradable, or compostable material. Using products such as these is a simple and affordable way in which we can reduce our carbon footprint. You can see some products from the new Primepac eco-friendly range below.

• Compostable Bamboo Tableware

• Primepac’s new range of tableware includes Compostable Bamboo Plates and Bowls. It is a proven fact that Bamboo is one of the world’s fastest growing plants, it is also a natural fibre – meaning our new bamboo products can degrade naturally and safely (and compost in the correct conditions). A non-toxic food grade chemical is added to this tableware to improve resistance to hot oil and water. These products are also suitable for microwaving and refrigerating!

• Green Choice Cutlery and Cups

Green Choice Cutlery and Cups are another addition to our eco-friendly tableware range. These products are made of CPLA, a plant-based plastic, and not a petroleum-based plastic. This means used cups and cutlery can be sent to a landfill (to eventually break down into plant matter) or sent to a commercial composting centre (for conversion into compost). Our Green Choice Hot Cups are double-walled, providing great insulation, meaning they do not require a sleeve. The one-size-fits-all cup lid is designed to snap clearly onto all hot cups for a snug fit and eliminate leakage. These lids are also compostable.

Our green choice cutlery is designed to provide strength, while still feeling nice to hold. The range has earned the required levels of food safety and compostability certification.

• Compostable Checkout Bags

• We now have a range of 100% Compostable Checkout Bags that are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic bags. These checkout bags are made from corn starch and completely natural in composition. By using compostable bags, we can reduce landfill as these bags are completely gone within 90 days (approx.) of being added to the compost pile.
• These bags can be used for retail purposes or as bin liners for your rubbish or compost. In the kitchen, the extra microns in the compostable bags mean that they’re highly durable, letting you store your organic waste without leaking. No mess, no fuss, just an easier way to look after the planet! Compostable bags come in both medium and large sizes, Primepac also offers 8 Litre Compostable Caddy Liners.

• Degradable Bin Liners

• Our degradable products offer the flexibility, strength and workload capacity of a traditional bag, but without the heavy impacts to the environment. Degradable bags made with EPI can degrade to fine particles when exposed to sunlight and do not give off harmful chemicals to our environment when exposed to heat.  Primepac’s Degradable Bin Liners come in 60L, 73L and 80L sizing, our 80L liners come in a handy dispenser box.
