About Eat My Lunch
1 in 4 Kiwi kids (approx. 290,000) live in poverty and thousands go to school without lunch every day. Eat My Lunch is an awesome organisation that is working to change this – by making it easier for Kiwis to help kiwi kids in need.
Since Eat My Lunch was launched in 2015, over 1 million lunches have been given to Kiwi kids and over 2700 lunches are delivered to schools daily. These schools are located in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and there are currently 88 schools involved in the program.
So how does it work? Eat My Lunch operates on a “Buy one, give one basis”. This means for every lunch ordered by a kiwi on the Eat My Lunch website, one lunch is donated to a school kid in need. These children receive a lunch that looks and tastes like it’s homemade, with a sandwich, healthy snack and a treat! All lunches are made fresh in the morning and delivered that same day! Ordering a lunch online is super easy and there are a variety of options to choose from. Click here to order a lunch online.
Primepac making sandwiches
While Eat My Lunch has an awesome team of 45 employees to make lunches for buying customers, there is also a team of volunteers who come in at 6.30am every morning to help make the Give lunches for kids. Since Eat My Lunch started, it has had over 12,000 people from all parts of the community come in and lend a hand. There is even a volunteer waiting list, which shows just how keen Kiwis are to take action to help achieve a common purpose. At Primepac, we wanted to get involved with this awesome organisation. After ordering lunches for our staff, we decided to head to Eat My Lunch HQ and start making some lunches ourselves!

A team of 10 Primepac staff took the morning away from work to help prepare meals for the day. The staff absolutely loved making the lunches, it was an awesome team bonding experience and there was something very rewarding about working together to help others. The team even managed to make 2700 sandwiches that morning, breaking the record for most sandwiches made in under 2 hours! When the lunches were all packed and ready to go, one of our Primepac drivers took them out in his purple Primepac van and delivered them to the schools around Auckland. It was awesome to be a part of the entire process, from making sandwiches at Eat My Lunch HQ, then delivering the meals to the groups of smiling Kiwi kids.
Being part of Eat My Lunch is such an awesome thing to do, and there are so many different ways you can be involved! Click here to visit the Eat My Lunch website and find out what you can do to help.
